TAG Heuer watches and timepieces
Edouard Heuer founded Tag Heuer in St-Imier, Switzerland in 1860. The philosophy behind the new company was to produce timepieces that offered very accurate time measurement. Absolute reliability was crucial as were performances, prestige and avant-garde technology. These characteristics are still important to Tag Heuer watches today. The company has made some impressive contributions to the history of timepieces. The first patent was released n 1882 for its chronograph mechanism. In 1964 Carrera Chronograph impressed the world with its high levels of reliability, legibility and accuracy and as far as wrist worn chronographs for sports were concerned. When the Microtimer was released in 1966, it achieved ultimate precision to1/10,000th of a second. Just three years later in 169, Tag Heuer invented the first microrotors based self-winding mechanical chronograph. This was basically the modern mechanical sports chronograph. Tag Heuer watches was involved in the 1920 Olympic Games. The company was also the official timekeeper of Indy 500 in 2004. It has also had close ties with the Formula One World Championship being the official timekeeper for more than ten years as well as partnering with Formula One racer Scuderai Ferrari and golfer Tiger Woods. Tag Heuer watches has also been the official timekeeper for the Indy Racing League (IRL)
